  • 🆔 First visit, your browser generates a random ID (64 chars) and stores it in localStorage and a cookie (rr_guest_token, 2-year expiry, this site only). Your name, avatar, and picks attach to that ID.
  • 🛡️ Light duplicate check. When you save a pick, we hash your IP + a basic browser signature (screen size, timezone, user-agent) on the server and store only the hash. Lets us flag the same person picking from two browsers — without storing your actual IP or fingerprint.
  • 🔁 The cookie is a backup so picks survive if localStorage gets evicted (e.g. iOS Safari after ~7 days idle).
  • 📱 Different browser, different device, or incognito = a new ID. Picks won’t follow. Clearing site data wipes it.
  • ↩️ To unlock a weekend, just tap it again — the badge comes off and your pick is removed from the database.
